DDS provides Graduate Program for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies: Data Science for graduate students at Osaka University. The program includes courses in Statistical Mathematics, Machine Learning, Humanity Statistics, Health and Medical Statistics, and Econometrics. In 2016, we plan to provide a Big Data and Data Science course. Advanced Course in Data Sciences I and II are core classes for all programs.
The Statistical Mathematics course provides an educational program in which the graduate students can study mathematical foundations and statistics in the data sciences, including methodological techniques applied in empirical investigations. Statistical Inference, Multivariate Analysis and other classes are included in the course.
The Machine Learning course course comprises an educational program in which the students can study mathematical foundations and statistics in order to derive knowledge and information from the data and to obtain data analysis skills utilizing information technologies. Data Mining Theory, Statistical Analysis and other classes are included in the course.
The Humanity Statistics course provides an educational program in which the students can study statistical tools, research methodologies and mathematical foundations used in the humanity and social science fields such as psychology, sociology, pedagogy and so on. Behavioral Statistical Science I, Empirical Sociology and other classes are included in the course.
The Health and Medical Statistics course provides an educational program in which the students can study statistical tools and research methodologies in order to analyze the data obtained in the health and medical fields. Health Care Informatics, Clinical Statistics and Epidemiology and other classes are included in the course.
The Econometrics course provides an educational program in which the students can study statistical tools and their mathematical foundations used in the economics and business administration fields. Econometrics I, Behavioral Statistical Science I and other classes are included in the course.
Moreover, we have a plan to provide a Big Data and Data Science course in 2016. This course provides an educational program in which the students can study statistical foundations, theory of statistics and analysis techniques to utilize big data. Big Data Analysis and Data Mining classes are also planned to be part of this course.
